The Shanghai Sharks winning streak ended at two yesterday, losing 99-118 to the Liaoning Dinosaurs.
The hallmark of the Shark's previous two home victories had been their strong defense, but Liaoning point guard Qin Peng Zhang carved up the Shark defense with surgical precision recording 13 assists and helping his team shoot 56% from the field.
Liaoning had six players in double figures led by Rodney Carney with 27. Former Laker Josh Powell had 24 and Li Xiaoxu had 17.
Zhang Zhaoxu led Shanghai with 20 points. Mike Harris had 20 points for the Sharks but the league leader in rebounds only recorded six boards struggling for position against the taller Liaoning players.
Shanghai head coach Daniel Panaggio had nothing but praise for Liaoning, who he called the best his team has faced all year.
"That was a clinic that team put on," he said. "They executed coming off of screens very well. They passed the ball very well, and they shot the heck out of it."
