Danish badminton player Peter Gade said he remains confident to challenge China’s Lin Dan at the upcoming London Olympic Games.

Meeting with media and two winners of a Chinese blogging competition at an event hosted by the Danish Embassy in Beijing on Monday, Gade discussed his performances at the Super Series China Open, where he lost in the quarterfinals.

Gade said he experienced many tough marches at the China Open, admitting it has been a tough season for him. However, he said he was satisfied that his hard work paid off and he qualified for the Olympics.

The Danish star placed in eight out of 14 Badminton World Federation tournaments since January, including three times as runner-up.

Now, staying free from injuries is his top priority, Gade said. From now till the 2012 Olympic Games, he said his main task is to take care of himself.

When talking about Lin, Gade said he is in very good form right now after winning in both the Hong Kong and China Open tournaments. Gade is 3 – 15 all time head-to-head against Lin, with his last victory in March last year.

"Playing Lin Dan is a big thing for me but I still feel I have a little chance to win," Gade said. "I think he may win eight or nine times of 10, but I have to go for that one or two times to beat him."
