Brazil coach Dunga said he would not stay with the team after his side lost 2-1 to the Netherlands in the World Cup quarterfinals on Friday.

"I am the coach of the Brazilian team, I have the greatest responsibility," said Dunga in a post-match press conference.

Before the tournament, Dunga said even if he took his side to win their sixth World Cup, he would still leave his post. And now the 46-year-old made it clear that he would step down after he returned to Brazil.

Dunga took over the helm from Carlos Alberto Parreira in July 2006 as Brazil head coach.

At the 10th minute, unmarked Robinho slotted past Dutch keeper Maarten Stekelenburg to make Brazil lead 1-0.

The Netherlands pulled level at the 53rd minute courtesy of Melo's own goal.

At the 68th minute, the Dutch went ahead as a near-post corner from Robben was flicked on by Dirk Kuyt and Sneijder headed home a power shot to send the team to the semifinals.

Two-time World Cup runner-ups Netherlands will take on the winner of a later match between Uraguay and Ghana in the semis on July 6.
