Argentine soccer icon Gabriel Batistuta found his money and credit cars stolen Wednesday in a hotel of Johannesburg, where he is working as commentator of the World Cup for an international TV chain.
The thieves took Batistuta's credit card and money from his hotel room in Michelangelo Hotel, one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in the city.
The 41-year-old Batistuta, known as the "Batigol", told the press that during the robbery he was not at his room and when he returned, he saw that his "credit card and some money were taken from his room."
Batistuta retired in 2005, after a successful experience playing for the Argentine clubs of Newell's old Boys, River Plate and Boca Juniors, the Italian clubs of Fiorentina, Roma and Inter de Milan and the Qatari club Al Arabi.
Batistuta scored 56 goals in 78 matches to the all-time leading scorer for the national team. Ten of those goals were scored in the World Cups of United States 1994, France 1998 and South Korea-Japan 2002.
