Johannesburg - As Uruguay scored against Bafana Bafana at Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday, a crowd gathered at a nearby pub were shattered and open mouthed.?

"No!" Some of them screamed.

Diego Forlan gave Uruguay a 1-0 lead, 30 minutes into the Group A match against South Africa.

Earlier, a crowd who could not pay the R50 pub entrance fee gathered outside the pub to watch the game. These included car guards.

As the national anthem came to a stop, the sound of vuvuzela's buzzed in the air.

Inside the stadium, a small patch of Uruguay supporters were seen, and even though the weather was arctic inside lots of people were seen with their children.

Drummers also stood outside the stadium, belting out African tunes.

Mzi Hodongwane,30, who was apart of the drumming group said: "The drums bring a more African flavour into the world cup...there will be no world cup without the drums, especially now that SA is playing."

Kate Watenam, 23, from Johannesburg said she got tickets but did not ordinarily watch soccer.

"It's a disgrace because we don't normally follow soccer, we bought the tickets and the fact that Bafana is playing is just a bonus."
