Japan claimed the gold medal in the equestrian eventing team competition at the Asian Games on Saturday.

Atsushi Negishi, Yoshiaki Oiwa, Kenki Sato and Takayuki Yumira combined for 133.40 points, with the best three of four scores to count, to beat Thailand into second place.

Thailand scored 159.60 and China took bronze with 164.90.
