Beijing Ducks opened their best start in the domestic league when they beat Bayi Fubang 84-78 to get the fifth straight win on Friday in the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).

Randolph Morris proved to be the best imput during the offseason as the former Atlanta Hawks forward made a crucial layup with 10 seconds to take a 82-78 lead.

Morris had 27 points and 17 rebounds for the Ducks, which occupy the third placing on the standings after the win by a 5-1 record.

The game was so close that none of the teams had a clear advantage throughout the match. The scorelines was 19-19, 38-38, and 60-60 after the respective three quarters.

The lead was exchanged several times before Bayi led for the final time on 75-74 with four minutes to go.

Xie Libin made a 3-pointer and Morris added a layup to usurp the lead by 79-75, before Wang Zhizhi, who had 20 points, buried three free-throws on two possessions to make it one-point game again.

Leading by 80-78, Morris stepped up to beat Wang down the post for a hard layup to give the home team a comfortable four-point lead for the win.

League-leaders Xinjiang Guanghui improved their perfect record to 5-0 after beating Fujian SBS 110-93 on the road.

Quincy Douby had 42 points, 10 assits, seven rebounds and six steals to lead Xinjiang.

Dongguan Marco Polo remained on the second with another 5-0 record by beating Foshan 102-89 at home. Zhang Kai led the team with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

In Friday's other matches, Shanxi Zhongyu beat Zhejiang Chouzhou 108-97, Zhejiang Guangsha beat Tianjin Ronggang 98-96, Guangdong Hongyuan beat Qingdao Doublestar 123-99, Jiangsu Dragons beat Liaoning Hunters 85-81 while Shanghai Sharks beat Jilin Northeast Tigers 97-91.
