Usain Bolt of Jamaica clocked 9.82 seconds to win at the Athletissima meet of IAAF Diamond League series on return from injury on Thursday.

After a six-week break due to injury, Bolt certainly made his comeback a notable one. The 9.82 victory equals the world lead set by his compatriot Asafa Powell in Rome early last month.

"It was more than I expected," said the double World record holder after his first appearance since an Achilles tendon injury in late May sent him to the sidelines. "I was a little nervous before the race but after a good warm-up I felt better."

Bolt, the Olympic and world champion in the 100 and 200 meters, was originally scheduled to run the 200m, but was switched to a shorter distance following doctors' advice. After the race, Bolt said he did feel some minor pain in his tender Achilles during the race.

Still, he beat his own expectations for a 9.88 finish and said he hopes to return to the 200 before the end of the season, provided his doctor agrees.

Fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake performed admirably as well, clocking a season's best 9.96 for second, and Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles was third in 10.16 seconds.
