The chairman of the European Table Tennis Union, in addition to taking a swipe at the International Table Tennis Federation, criticized the growing number of former Chinese women players in Europe.

Stefano Bosi said Chinese women playing in Europe are stunting the development of the sport on the continent.

Germany's Wu Jiaduo and Austria's Liu Jia are the only two world's top 20 women players from Europe and both of them are former Chinese players, Six of the top 10 European players immigrated from China.

"I don't think it's very good for Europe. At the beginning, I thought differently, I thought they would bring European players to a higher level but actually it turned out to be different from what I expected, But I know we can't stop it, it accords with the law. It is right," said Bosi during the Asia-Europe All Star Table Tennis Challenge, which only features men's players.

Asked if it's possible to have women's challenge between Asia and Europe, Bosi said: "It must be strange to have the women's matches at the moment because you will see Chinese are playing for Europe. But we will work hard to have more local players to be strong in the near future," he added.
