China expects that its efforts to combat corruption in the soccer field would deliver better results this year.

Wei Di, Chairman of the China Football Management Center (CFMC), made this remark on Monday after his inaugural meeting with Mohammed Hammam, president of the Asia Football Confederation (AFC).

During the interview with Xinhua, Wei said that China was still on track in combating corruption in soccer matches, adding that a report would be made public after the job was completed.

He said that his visit to Malaysia was aimed at familiarizing himself with AFC officials and seeking support from the AFC for the sport in China.

AFC was concerned about the corruption in soccer matches in China, Wei said. AFC not only want to know China's progress in battling corruption, but also the follow-up steps China will adopt.

Wei added that AFC extended its support to China in "cleaning" the sport.
