Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel, winner of the third stage at the Dakar Rally Argentina-Chile 2010 in car category, said on Monday that he is more interested in winning the Rally for the 10th time than just "the stages".

Peterhansel of the BMW team is the greatest winner in the Rally's history as he has won six times (1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1998) in the motorbike category and three times in car (2004, 2005 and 2007).

After his triumph on Monday at the third stage between Argentine cities of La Rioja and Fiambala, the 44-year-old Peterhansel tops the overall standings with a total time of 9 hours, 14 minutes and 28 seconds, followed by Spaniard Carlos Sainz of Volkswagen team 4:33 behind.

Meanwhile, Qatari driver Nasser All-Attiyah of Volkswagen team is third at 7:31.

Peterhansel said after his victory on Monday that "it has been a good day. We began the stage at the sixth place and we arrived first. It has been an easy day, with a special trail of few kilometers (182)."

"At the moment I am not interested in winning the stages. I am interested in winning the Rally. Today we have made a good base. We will see what happens next," Peterhansel said.
