Briton Andy Murray lifted the Montreal Masters title on Sunday by beating Argentine Juan Martin del Potro 6-7, 7-6 and 6-1.
Third seed Murray spent two hours and 42 minutes in the scorching heat to to overcame his sixth seeded opponent.
Murray, replacing Rafael Nadal as world number two, became the first British player in 128 years to win the Canadian title.
Murray lost the first and only set of the week in the opening set of the match as fresh new Washington Classic winner Del Potro squeeze a tight first set victory in a tiebreak 7-4.
Murray leveled the score by clinching the second set with a 7-3 tiebreak.
Murray moved recorded two early breaks in the third set to go 4-0 up before finishing the contest with an emphatic ace.
