| China has modified its GDP growth rate in 2009 to 9.1 percent, 0.4 percentage points higher than the previous figure, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on July 2.
After the NBS verification, the country's GDP in 2009 amounted to 34.0507 trillion yuan ($5.03 trillion), up 515.4 billion yuan ($76.13 billion) from the preliminary figure.
The upgrade is based on data from annual statistical reports, financial reports from industries as well as sample surveys, which are more comprehensive and reliable than data used in preliminary statistics, the NBS said.
After the GDP adjustment, added value of the primary industry, or agriculture, was 3.5226 trillion yuan ($520.32 billion), down 25.1 billion yuan ($3.71 billion) from the earlier calculation. Annual growth rate was 4.2 percent, the same as the previous figure.
Added value of secondary industry, or industry generally, reached 15.7639 trillion yuan ($2.33 trillion), up 68.1 billion yuan ($10.06 billion) from the earlier calculation. It increased 9.9 percent from a year earlier, 0.4 percentage points higher than the previous figure.
Tertiary industry, or services, added value was 14.7642 trillion yuan ($2.18 trillion), up 472.4 billion yuan ($69.78 billion) from the earlier calculation. Annual growth rate was revised 0.4 percentage points upward to 9.3 percent.
The new statistics show primary, secondary and tertiary industries accounted for 10.3 percent, 46.3 percent and 43.4 percent respectively of China's GDP in 2009. |
