The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, the first railway designed and built by the Chinese people, opened in 1909, connecting Beijing and Zhangjiakou city, Hebei province. The century-old Qinghuayuan Railway Station, part of this railway, ceased operations in October 2016 due to the construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway. To honor this railway's history, Jingzhang Railway Park's Section C, built around the old Qinghuayuan Railway Station, opened to the public in Haidian district, Beijing, in June 2023.
