YF-23 Country of Origin: U.S. Manufacturer: Northrop, McDonnell Douglas The YF-23 was a single-seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft designed for the U.S. Air Force. Two YF-23 prototypes were built, nicknamed "Black Widow II" and "Gray Ghost." The fighter design lost its government contract to the F-22 Raptor in the 1980s and never entered mass production.
