Wheelchair Tennis Day 5 Preview: Dutch dominate

Dutch players will dominate the Women's Singles - Open semi-finals and Quad Singles - Open semis to be held at the Olympic Green Tennis Center on Friday, September 12.

Women's Singles - Open

The semi-finals will take place on Friday, with top seed Esther Vergeer from the Netherlands, who remains unbeaten in 347 matches, to play her fellow Dutch teammate and fourth seed Jiske Griffioen, the winner of 26 career singles titles, as one of her strongest rivals for the top slot.

No. 5 seed, Florence Gravellier from FRance, who competed in the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games, will take on Dutch player Korie Homan who has been ranked World No.2 since 2007.

Quad Singles - Open

The semi-finals will take place on Friday with No.4 seed Johan Andersson of Sweden taking on top seed and Athens Silver medalist the United States' David Wagner. The third seed, also from the United States, Nick Taylor will play the second seed and gold winner of the inaugural Quad Singles in Athens, Peter Norfolk of Great Britain, in a potentially close match.

Men's Singles - Open

The quarterfinals will take place on Friday, with World No. 2 and defending champion, Dutch Robin Ammerlaan to face the ninth seed, Satoshi Saida of Japan, who won Doubles gold in Athens.

Eleventh seed, Ronald Vink from the Netherlands, who managed to defeat eighth seed Austrian Martin Legner on Thursday will take on the challenge of the higher seeded, Stephane Houdet of France who is in the No.4 spot.

Top seed, Japan's Shingo Kunieda will play the seventh seed, Stefan Olsson from Sweden, who won bronze in the 2007 World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.

Men's Doubles - Open

Top seeds and Athens 2004 gold medal duo, Shingo Kunieda and Satoshi Saida of Japan will meet the veteran of four Paralympic Games, Martin Legner and his partner, Thomas Mossier of Austria, in the quarterfinals.
