That capability undoubtedly would have a positive impact on people's health, not just in China but worldwide, Bernhard Schwartlander, WHO representative in China, said.

Some analysts see the latest breakthrough as a further example of China's technological progress increasingly benefiting the world.

As well-known American journalist Fareed Zakaria once said, though people could not see changes in one day, they might feel the progressive steps in China, referring to the country's innovation capability.

With expanding international technology cooperation, Chinese innovation has helped boost economic and social development in other countries, and helped them cultivate their own talent.

In Africa, Chinese agricultural technology centers in the Democratic Republic of Congo changed barren land into fertile farmland in less than two years, and taught local farmers advanced techniques.

And "Chinese technology" is expanding gradually from the field of agriculture to information technology, resource exploration and green energy development; from technical transformation to personnel training.

In Latin America, China helped Venezuela succeed in researching and launching two satellites, which are providing services in television, urban planning, environmental protection and other fields.

China CNR Corporation Ltd., one of the country's biggest train makers, has sent a first batch of 30 rail cars to upgrade Brazil's transport network for the 2014 football World Cup, with a further 60 to be delivered.

In Europe, Chinese technology giant Huawei has assisted in the European Organization for Nuclear Research's 'God particle' project, by providing a cloud-based Universal Distributed Storage (UDS) system to meet the challenges of data storage and analysis (one exabyte = 1,048,576 terabytes).

In Oceania, Australia's emergency services received help from a Chinese satellite in fighting the recent massive bushfires in New South Wales. The satellite provided imagery that helped map and detect fires and analyze the impact.

In recent years, China has taken part in a series of international research cooperation projects, such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor project, the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, the Earth Observing System and the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer.

China has also helped deepen exchanges within the international scientific community through its cooperation with developed countries, such as the United States, Japan, Russia and European countries.

China has played a bigger role in formulating the international standards and solving major global problems.

China's technical innovation, as Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, once said, "can help the poorest people in the world lead healthier, more productive lives."

As China continues to realize more benefits from its reform, the innovative spirit of the Chinese people will continue to flourish, which will contribute even more to the progress of mankind.
