China is a proud and glorious place today thanks to the efforts of the Chinese government. A Chinese citizen who feels dissatisfied with his life is nonsensical.

What is satisfaction? Why do we feel satisfied? We are all different in our levels of satisfaction, and we may sometimes complain about our lives. Some might say such complaints are normal. But in China, it isn't. If a Chinese citizen expresses dissatisfaction about China, it really makes no sense at all.

The Chinese government has done more than what other governments can only dream of doing. China's recent success is based on the deep willingness and consistent hard work of the government. While it is not easy to maintain and strive for development with such a vast population, the Chinese government has done it well, with the support of the Chinese people.

Consider: China is now in the midst of becoming an economic powerhouse. China has overtaken Germany as the world's largest exporter by the end of 2009. It is the world's largest producer of grain, accounting for 31 percent of the world's rice and 20 percent of the world's corn. And it is the world's second-largest automobile manufacturer.

Chinese products have made their own impression on the world market because of their cheaper prices and comparative quality. Their fierce competitiveness in attracting demand has prompted countries to take measures to protect their own industries; the EU, for instance, just extended their anti-dumping tariffs on shoe imports from China. Meanwhile, many foreign companies, such as the American Nike and Japanese Sony, choose to manufacture their products in China while selling them all over the world. Such is the wide acceptance of Chinese products.

China has made great development in all sectors. It is difficult to find an area where China is falling behind other nations in development. China has the fastest-growing major economy, with an average GDP growth rate of over 10 percent annually over the past three decades. In the same period, the government had lifted millions of Chinese out of poverty, reducing the poverty rate to below 10 percent from over 60 percent in the 1980s. The country's infrastructure has been modernized, in some areas more than others, vastly improving electricity supply, telecommunications, transportation and financial transactions.

After all these things, Chinese citizens must be proud of their country and should share the glory that the government has brought. The Chinese government's successful efforts in development and Chinese citizens' relentless support and belief in their government have made such glory possible. That's how China has become the country of pride and glory.
