An Indonesian artist and two athletes had been elected bearers of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Torch passing Jakarta as the result of an online "once in a lifetime experience" selection of at least 664,000 votes.
"Those elected were artist Luna Maya who garnered 31.9 percent of the votes, followed by Candar Wijaya (badminton player) with 26.5 percent, and basketball ace Denny Sumargo with 16.2 percent," Antara news agency Monday quoted a press release of Samsung Electronics Indonesia as saying.
The three will appear in the Olympic Torch Relay International ceremony in Jakarta on April 22. They had been chosen after the selection was held from September 3 to October 3, 2007.
It was reported that 80 bearers of Olympic Torch will join the transmit of the torch in Jakarta.
The Beijing Olympic Torch will be carried around the world starting on March 25, 2008 from Greece to 136 cities in different countries, and will arrive back in Beijing, capital of the People's Republic of China, on August 8, 2008.
A total of 22,000 people will be carrying the torch.
