Nicaragua's former world boxing champion and candidate to Managua's mayoralty Alexis Arguello said on Thursday that he is amazed by the development of China and the amiability of its people.
Arguello was the Nicaraguan flag bearer at the opening of the 29th Olympic Games of Beijing 2008.
Arguello told Xinhua that China is one of the economic powers which has fabulously developed during the last 10 years.
"I am grateful for being able to see the Olympic Games in Beijing, and I congratulate that (Chinese) people for having celebrated the most beautiful Olympics of the humanity," Arguello said.
Arguellos is candidate of the Sandinist Front of National Liberation (FSLN) to the mayoralty of Managua for the municipal election of Nov. 9.
Arguellos said Beijing is characterized with the amiability of its people, the cleanness of the streets and technology advancement.
