Many children are delighted to play with large inflatable toys, such as houses and sliding boards, in city parks. But such toys may put kids in danger without warning.
Yantai-based website shm.com.cn reported Wednesday that some inflatable toys in a park were not as steady as they looked, making it very easy for children to slip on them.
The report said an inflatable house was not pumped with enough air, causing a four-year-old boy to get stuck in it. Other toys had similar problems.
The boy's mother said she would not let her son play on such toys anymore, unless she was assured of their safety.
The report said more than 30 kids, who were at most 1.5 meter tall, were crowded together on an inflatable castle in the park.
Making matters worse, a member of staff at the park said he had no idea of how many children should be permitted on one inflatable toy.
On May 2 this year, one girl died and four others were injured in an inflatable toy accident in north west China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
