At least 30 people have died and many more have gone missing in
a landslide caused by heavy flooding in a southeastern Mexican
state, Mexican radio reported Monday.

caused by heavy rains in Mexico's southern Tabasco State has left
over a million people homeless and hundreds missing. Most of the
streets in Villahermosa are under water. Rescuers were sent to this
flood-affected area to build dams and evacuate
residents.
The death toll was preliminary, as rescuers were still working
at the site, 8 km from Villahermosa, capital of Tabasco State,
Radio Formula said.
Interior Minister Francisco Ramirez Acuna and the director
general of the National Water Commission, Jose Angel Cordoba
Villalobos, are heading to the site, the report added.
Meanwhile, the week-long flood also ravaged Pichucalco, a town
close to Tabasco's largest reservoir, Penitas, where the death toll
was yet to be confirmed.
