Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday Iran
will reject any offer of enrichment suspension proposed by the
European countries, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Mottaki's statement came after a meeting with the envoys of
Britain, France and Germany to Tehran here Monday, said the IRNA
report.
Referring to Europe's new plans proposed to Iran on its nuclear
program, Mottaki was quoted as saying that "any call for suspension
or interruption of Iran's nuclear program will be irrational and
unacceptable."
"It is certain to be rejected," the foreign minister said.
Meanwhile, he also expressed that Iran will welcome any
constructive proposal which will guarantee its legitimate and
inalienable right and help solve the nuclear issue and will be
ready to talk about it.
Mottaki urged that any new proposal by Europe should be based on
realities and be within logic.
"If Europeans' proposals disregard the two fundamental
conditions, including official recognition of Iran's inalienable
rights to access nuclear technology and upholding this right, it
will end up facing a situation similar to their plan proposed in
August 2005," said the Iranian top diplomat.
The three European countries have been engaged in talks with
Iran over its disputed nuclear program in the past few years.
Iran repeatedly reiterates that its nuclear program is for
peaceful purposes, denying a US accusation that it is trying to
make nuclear weapons.
