Dmitry Medvedev, first deputy prime minister of Russian President Vladimir Putin's cabinet, has won the country's fifth presidential election by a landslide, official figures released on Monday showed.
Medvedev secured his overwhelming victory by gaining 70.1 percent of the vote, with 93.5 percent of the ballots counted, Central Election Commission (CEC) figures indicated.
A total of 235 international observers monitored the polling and have reported no violations against election rules so far.
