China has reached a "common understanding" with countries in Mid, West and South Asia to curb "East Turkistan" forces, anti-terrorist departments said Sunday.
The joint work aims to guarantee the safety of the 60th National Day celebrations and effectively counteract "East Turkistan" forces headed by the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM)," they said.
The law enforcement departments of the countries involved will step up intelligence exchanges, share information, tighten border controls and boost protection measures around "Chinese targets abroad."
The countries involved agree terrorism poses a serious threat to regional security and stability and stepping up international anti-terrorism cooperation were in line with interests of all the countries, the departments said.
The countries involved have promised to cooperate fully with China against terrorism, according to a statement from the departments.
