China's top legislature would make unceasing efforts to deepen ties with representatives of Rwanda's parliament, a senior Chinese legislator said here Monday.
Yan Junqi, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), was speaking during a meeting with the deputy speaker of representatives of Rwanda's parliament Jean Damaslene Ntawukuriryayo.
Yan said the two countries' relations had enjoyed stable and healthy development since they forged diplomatic ties in 1971.
Parliamentary ties were an important part of the two countries' friendship and cooperation, she said.
China was ready to push forward practical cooperation with Rwanda, and cement parliamentary ties between the NPC and the representatives of Rwanda's parliament, she said.
Yan said China attached great importance to developing its relationship with Rwanda, which keynoted friendly cooperation, long-term stability, equality and mutual benefit.
Ntawukuriryayo, who began a visit to China on Sept. 8, said Rwandan representatives also wanted to promote deeper ties with the NPC.
He said Rwanda was grateful to China for its support of Rwanda's development, and said his country highly valued its traditional friendship with China.
