A South Korean aid group on Friday sent additional emergency medical supplies worth 70 million won (57,000 U.S. dollars) to a region in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, officials from the group said.
The Korea Association of People Sharing Love, upon a request from the DPRK two weeks ago, sent supplies to Sinuiju, located at the border with China, via ship, the organization said.
The DPRK's request came amid an epidemic of enteritis and diarrhea, a member of the association said, quoting DPRK regional officials.
The medical supplies are scheduled to arrive in the DPRK on Monday, the organization added.
The non-government organization has been serving humanitarian assistance to the DPRK for several years.
The South Korean government has been suspending direct food and fertilizer aid to the nation with the exception of private aid groups carrying out humanitarian projects.
