Tanzanian Minister of Home Affairs Lawrence Masha on Friday hailed the bilateral cooperation between Tanzania and China and expressed his thankfulness for the donation of hi-tech equipment from China.
Masha made the remarks at the Handover Certificate signing ceremony held here with the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Liu Xinsheng.
The minister noted that the bilateral relation between the two counties will be enhanced and that his ministry will make good use of the donated equipment to improve the service for the society and the people.
He added that he expects to find new things when he pays a visit to China's northeastern city of Dalian next week and attends the World Economic Forum annual meeting there, as he had done each time in the past while he was in China.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador noted that China and Tanzania hold long-lasting friendship and the donation of the equipment aims to promote the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their people.
The donated equipment from China's Ministry of Public Security include 150 personal computers, 50 notebook computers, 30 scanners and 40 digital cameras, which have total worth of 1.5 million RMB (about US$220,000).
Moreover, China on Wednesday donated food aid to Tanzania through the World Food Program (WFP) in the northeastern region of Arusha, which will assist Tanzania's low-income and food-insecure communities in several regions in the north.
China has donated a total of 470,000 dollar-worth food aid to Tanzania in 2009 through the WFP, according to the agreement between the Chinese government and the organization.
