2 rockets fired by militants hit Afghan capital
Adjust font size:

Two rockets fired by anti-government militants slammed into the Afghan capital city Kabul Tuesday morning, causalities feared, police said. "The rockets fired from unknown location and hit residential areas at around 07:10 a.m. local time," a police officer told Xinhua but asked not be named.

Meantime, a private television channel Tolo in its news bulletin quoted Kabul police chief as reporting that investigation is underway to find the location of the firing or if there were any casualties.

The attack on Kabul took place while the Afghans are getting ready to go to the polling stations on Thursday August 20 to elect the country's president in the post-Taliban nation.

This is the second attack since early weekend. On Saturday, a suicide car bomb exploded next to NATO-led troops' headquarters and US embassy killing seven civilians and wounding over 90 others, most are non-combatants.

Taliban militants have called on Afghans to boycott the presidential election and vowed to derail the electoral process.
