The Nicaraguan opposition on Wednesday criticized the presence of ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya in the country, and asked Zelaya to leave.

President of "Let's Go with Eduardo Movement (MVE)" Eduardo Montealegre said that the party was worried about Zelaya calling for insurgency in Honduras from Nicaragua.

"Why does Zelaya not go to other nation, like El Salvador of Guatemala, to do that?" Montealegre asked.

Montealegre returned to the country on Wednesday after traveling to Honduras to learn about the situation there.

Montealegre said that Zelaya's presence on the Nicaraguan border with Honduras produces tension in trade, and Nicaragua's exporters get worried.

He said that he will present to the National Assembly a report on the instability created by Zelaya in Nicaragua.

The Nicaraguan government has condemned the June 28 military coup in Honduras and allowed Zelaya to stay in the country.

"We are going to request the parliament, this week, to define the migratory status of Zelaya, because he is launching war offensives, and the Nicaraguans are worried about it," Montealegre said.

Thousands of Zelaya's followers have been crossing the border into Nicaragua by mountain paths in the area of Las Manos.

The Nicaraguan opposition had planned to send a letter to Zelaya, requesting him to stop using Nicaragua as a "rebellious base".

On Tuesday, however, about 100 supporters of Nicaragua's ruling party blocked the highway to Ocotal near Zelaya's border camp, preventing the deputies of the opposition from delivering the letter to Zelaya.
