Ahmadinejad urges Obama to express regret over interference in Iran
Adjust font size:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday urged US President Barack Obama to express "regret" over his interfering in Iran's affairs amid post-election unrest, local Fars news agency reported.

"I hope Mr. Obama will stop interfering in Iran's affairs and express his regret," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

The Iranian president also said that Obama was "repeating things that former US President George W. Bush used to say."

On Tuesday, Obama denied Washington had been interfering in Iran's affairs, but said he strongly condemned the Iranian government's "unjust actions" against its people.

The United States and the international community had been " appealed and outraged by the threats, beatings, and imprisonments of the last few days," Obama told a press conference Tuesday in the White House, referring to Iran's post-election situation.
