A reception was held in Beijing Wednesday to mark the 15th anniversary of the Sino-Mongolian friendly and cooperative relationship treaty.
Addressing the reception, Jing Dunquan, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said the signing of the treaty in 1994 laid a solid foundation for the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.
Noting that 2009 is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties, Jing said China would take the anniversary as an opportunity to consistently work with the Mongolian side, in a bid to realize comprehensive development of the bilateral relationship.
"China always values the traditional friendship with Mongolia," he said.
Galsan Batsukh, Mongolian ambassador to China, said the two countries would hold a series of activities to mark the anniversary, including China's sending 60 students from the quake-hit Sichuan Province to recuperate in Mongolia.
In 1960, the two countries signed a treaty of friendship and mutual assistance. The treaty was revised in 1994, and based on the revised treaty, the Sino-Mongolian friendly and cooperative relationship treaty was signed.
