The government of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip on Saturday called on U.S. President Barak Obama's administration to take a clear position regarding the Israeli daily measures.
Taher al-Nounou, a spokesman for the deposed government, said that Israel "continues its aggressive campaign in the occupied Jerusalem to make al-Aqsa mosque Jewish."
The measures in Jerusalem, the intensifying the settlement activities in the West Bank and the restrictions on the Palestinian prisoners are conducted "while the U.S. envoy George Mitchell is visiting the region," according to al-Nounou.
"We think any change in Obama's administration towards the region must be felt by the Palestinian people," the Hamas' spokesman added.
The former U.S. administration led an international campaign to isolate Hamas government which took office in 2006 after it won the parliamentary elections.
A year later, Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas fired Hamas government after it routed his forces and seized the Gaza Strip.
