Macao residents still stranded in Thailand
Adjust font size:

Three Macao residents were still stranded in Thailand where anti-government protesters blockaded the major airports in the nation's capital Bangkok, the Special Administration Region (SAR) government said on Tuesday.

Anti-government protesters in Bangkok have blockaded the Thailand's major international airports for eight days, stranding 300,000 travelers.

The Macao SAR government's Outbound Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCTE) said it would keep close contact with the airlines so that flight seats can be arranged for the three stranded residents as soon as possible.

Previously, the SAR government rented an Airbus A-321 from Air Macao, the local flagship airline, and brought 173 residents who traveled to Thailand back to Macao. Two residents also flied back to Macao last night with the help from the GGCTE.

Similar move has been taken by the Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese mainland authorities.

To date, the GGCTE has received 151 enquiries concerning the issue, and the Office has already established a hotline which can be used by the stranded residents to call for help from the SAR government.
