Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Friday said China would work with Sweden to further the bilateral friendly and cooperative relations. Li made the remarks when meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who came to attend the seventh summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

Li said China and Sweden enjoyed increasing cooperation in various areas, with close economic and trade relations and fruitful exchanges in science and technology, education and environmental protection.

China valued the relations with Sweden, and was ready to work with this European nation to push forward the bilateral friendly cooperation in line with the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits.

As to the current international financial turmoil and other global issues concerning energy, grain, environment, natural disasters and poverty, Li said all countries in the world should work together to increase dialogue and jointly respond to these problems.

While maintaining its stable and comparatively rapid economic growth, China would also promote economic restructuring and change of economic development pattern, strengthen economic vitality, and improve capacity to resist risks, in a bid to contribute to world economic stability, the vice premier said.

Echoing Li's remarks, Reinfeldt said his country would work with China to further deepen the mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
