Visiting Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukerjee on Thursday said India would never tolerate any political anti-China activities by anyone in the Indian territory.

Mukerjee made the remarks during talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi. He reiterated the Indian government's persistent stance on the Tibet issue, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Indian officials have previously reiterated the Indian government's stance that the Tibet Autonomous Region is part of China's territory and India would never tolerate any political anti-China activities in Indian territory.

Mukerjee said India attached great importance to developing the relation with China and was ready to work together to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries. This was in a bid to continuously enhance mutual friendship, trust and cooperation.

Yang hailed the comprehensive development of the China-India relationship, saying it was "at the best period of development in history", and faced "important strategic opportunities".

He vowed to closely cooperate with the Indian side to strengthen exchanges and dialogue, expand economic and trade cooperation and consider the concerns of each other to promote the China-India strategic partnership of cooperation towards continuous progress.

Yang also briefed the Indian guests on China's relief efforts for the May 12 massive earthquake in Sichuan Province and some other areas, and expressed his appreciation of the Indian government's donation and aid to the quake-hit area.

Mukerjee spoke highly of China's relief efforts and progress, saying India would continue to provide necessary assistance to China.

The two also exchanged views on some international and regional issues of common concern.

This was Mukerjee's first visit to China since he took up his post. He arrived in Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province, to start his four-day visit, where he attended the opening ceremony of the India consulate there.
