Chinese and Romanian senior legislators on Monday vowed to
strengthen parliamentary relations and cultural exchanges.
?"China and Romania always maintain friendly relations
featuring frequent high-level exchanges and increasingly-deepening
mutual trust," Lu Yongxiang, Vice-Chairman of the Standing
Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top
legislative body, spoke to a Romanian parliamentary delegation.
China and Romania established diplomatic ties on October 5,
1949, four days after the founding of the People's Republic of
China.
"The NPC attaches great importance to develop sound relations
with Romanian parliament, and hope to further enhance parliamentary
exchanges and cooperation," Lu said.
Micula Catalin, chairman of the Romania Parliamentary cultural,
art and information committee, who led the delegation, said his
country enjoys special friendship with China, with high-level
exchanges boosting economic and social cooperation.
Catalin said his committee hopes to enhance cultural cooperation
with the NPC so as to make better cultural communication between
two peoples.
