Jia Proposes Forging Sino-Vietnam Ties

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Monday made five proposals on reinforcing and developing China-Vietnam relations ceaselessly.

 

Jia put forth the proposals when holding talks with member of the Political Bureau under the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and the committee's permanent secretary Phan Dien.

 

First, keep on maintaining exchanges of high-ranking delegations between China and Vietnam, as well as their parties, increasing mutual trust, ceaselessly forging the political relations between the two countries.

 

Second, on the principles of supplementing each other and win-win relations, beefing up economic and trade ties, making them more substantiate; actively expanding the bilateral trade; well realizing cooperation projects signed by the two sides; facilitating cooperation on large-scale projects; and promoting mutual coordination and negotiation on international and regional economic issues.

 

Third, taking into account the broad vision and long-term interest, stepping up the process of planting border marks; beefing up cooperation on oil exploration and seafood exploitation in the Beibu Gulf; and accelerating the joint tapping of the South China Sea, bringing about substantiate results.

 

Fourth, strengthening cooperation and exchanges in different fields; trying to make contents and forms of ideology seminars held by the two parties better; promoting exchanges of youths and teenagers; and revitalizing China-Vietnam friendly ties.

 

Fifth, boosting exchanges and all-round cooperation between the CPPCC and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, making contribution to enhancing the comprehensive ties between the two countries.

 

During the talks, Jia highly appreciated the relations between the two parties and the two countries. He said the ties have made great progress under the 16-character principles set by their leaders.

 

Last year, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Hu Jintao and leaders of Vietnam's party and state reached broad consensus on promoting the relations between China and Vietnam and their parties in the new century, and pointed out orientations for the future development of the bilateral ties.

 

Now, mutual trust and support, closer cooperation and joint seek of development ways have become important features of the relations of the two parties and the two countries, he said.

 

Jia stated that the issue of Taiwan relates to sovereignty and territorial integrity of China, is the focal interest of the country, and involves in the affection of the entire Chinese people. He said China welcomes and supports the one-China stance of Vietnam's party and government which opposes the separatist movement of Taiwan authorities.

 

Dien agreed with Jia's proposals, noting that enhancing solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and China is in line with common interests of the two peoples. Vietnam's party and government treasure developing ties with China, and want to deepen the bilateral cooperation on politics, economy and trade, strengthen Vietnam-China friendly ties, and ceaselessly develop the relations between the two parties and the two countries.

 

Regarding the issue of Taiwan, Dien reiterated that Vietnam's party and government cling to the one-China policy, strongly oppose separatist movement of Taiwan authorities, and want China to shortly realize the national reunification.

 

During the talks, Dien also introduced Vietnam's economic situation and preparation for the upcoming 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

 

Monday night, Jia attended a party hosted by Dien and chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet.

 

Jia arrived in Hanoi Monday afternoon, starting his visit to Vietnam from March 20 through 24.
