The death toll caused by the A/H1N1 influenza in Spain has reached four after two more deaths were reported Thursday, said the Spanish Health Ministry on Thursday.
The two dead were a male Madrid resident aged 71 and a 33-year-old female Nigerian who was on vacation in Spain, said the ministry.
Health officials said that the A/H1N1 virus usually causes a light flu which can be treated with conventional medicines, but the latest two deaths were caused by complications.
So far, Spain has confirmed 1,222 cases of the infections.
Europe as a whole has reported a total of 14,600 cases of the epidemic, including 17 deaths, which means that the mortality of the disease is lower than the ordinary seasonal flu.
