The Peruvian Health Ministry on Monday reported two new cases of A/H1N1 influenza in the country, bringing the total number of the infected to 27.

The newly infected are two 16-year-old students. One was infected by a person coming from Argentina, while the other was infected by a person who had traveled to the Dominican Republic.

"The two new cases are under medical control, isolation at home, anti viral treatment and they are evolving favorably," the ministry said.

The ministry also said the patient confirmed on Sunday by the National Institute of Family Welfare is also evolving satisfactorily and those who were in close touch with her are being monitored.

Between April 24 to May 25, the nearly 160,000 people who arrived at Lima-Callao international airport were checked by health officials.

"None of them presented symptoms and all of them signed the declaration with the Health Ministry," the ministry said in a statement.
