Canada on Tuesday reported four new deaths from the A/H1N1 flu, bringing the total to 11.

Health officials in Manitoba and Quebec are reporting a total of four deaths from the swine flu, with two in each province.

Joel Kettner, Manitoba's medical health officer, said a man in his 40s from Winnipeg did not have any known underlying health conditions when he died in hospital.

But the second victim, a woman from northern Manitoba who was also in her 40s, did have "significant" health problems when she was hospitalized, he said. These are the province's first such deaths.

In Quebec, a man and a woman from Montreal are that province's latest deaths from the virus.

Public health officials say the two were between 30 and 50 years old.

The province had reported three such deaths over the weekend. Now the provincial total stands at six, the most among all provinces.

As of Monday, the total number of confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Canada stood at 4,049, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada.
