Official stabbed to death for 'special service' request

A local government official was stabbed to death by a KTV attendant in central China's Hubei Province on May 10, police from Ye Sanguan Town, Badong County said. A colleague of the victim was badly injured.

Police investigations indicate that the victim's request for "special service" – a euphemism for "sexual service" in China – triggered his death.

Deng Guida, a 44-year-old official from Ye Sanguan Town, Ba Dong County, went to a local hotel with two other colleagues for leisurely activities on the evening of May 10. As they were waiting in the hotel, they caught sight of Deng Yujiao, a KTV attendant, and asked whether she could provide "special services".

She flatly refused the request and turned to leave, when an angry Deng allegedly shouted at her and flashed a bundle of banknotes condescendingly. After that elicited no reaction, Deng forcibly pushed her down onto a sofa. After some struggle, she pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times, once in the throat.

Deng Yujiao turned herself in shortly afterwards. Police say she may suffer from acute depression, but still have to wait for the official examination results.

The incident has created quite a stir among the Chinese public, as situations involving government officials frequently make headlines. Only a couple of days ago, the Internet and other media were deluged with news about an unscrupulous ID theft official.
