Discipline Inspection Officials Urged to Do Better Job
Adjust font size:

Senior official Wu Guanzheng has called on newly-appointed discipline inspection officials to be loyal to their work and persevere in the fight against corruption.

Part of the work of the Communist Party of China (CPC), discipline inspection must promote the development and stability of the country, said Wu, Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC.

Officials must urge Party members and Party committees at all levels to abide by the CPC's regulations, and firmly punish and prevent corruption, he told a meeting on Wednesday.

An improved, comprehensive anti-corruption system needs to be established, which is able to detect and punish corrupt officials as well as prevent corruption through education, regulation and supervision, said Wu.

"We must fight corruption in all fields -- the economy, politics, culture, and social and Party building," he said.

He urged officials to strengthen leadership and administration of discipline inspection teams, and get ready for supervision by the Party and the people.

The Seventh Plenary Session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC ended on Wednesday. It reviewed the work of the past year and outlined the anti-corruption and Party building work for 2007.

At the session, the CPC warned that cadres who gamble and get involved in illegal property deals will be the focus of an intensified crackdown on corruption.

A communique released Wednesday also warned against embezzlement and fraud in the management of state-owned enterprises.
