The death toll in the southwest China floods has risen to 105,
with 83 people still missing.
The Chinese central government has allocated 40 million yuan, or
US$4.8 million, in disaster relief for the flood-affected
regions.
The bulk of the money will go to Sichuan
Province and Chongqing
Municipality, which were devastated by floods triggered by a
rainstorm.
The rainstorm caused floods and landslides that trapped hundreds
of people, destroyed farmland and transportation links.
The State Council has dispatched a disaster-relief mission to
work together with local governments.
And the China's Red Cross allocated relief goods including tents
and quilts to the disaster-hit areas.
