Adjust font size:

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said he was happy with the Turin Winter Games as they come to a close on Sunday after 17-day run.

"The IOC is happy with the Games," Rogge told a press conference.

Rogge said that he toured venues, talked to media staff, broadcasters and sponsors to listen to their opinions on the Feb. 10-26 Games.

In accordance with the tradition, Rogge will give an official assessment of the Games during the night's closing ceremony.

"As the president, I would never say it would be the best-ever games, and I will keep my promise," said Rogge.

"But I can say to Mr. Valentino Castellani (chairman of TOROC) that he will be pleased by what he hears."

Jean-Claude Killy, IOC's chief coordinator for the Games, also spoke highly of the organizers' work.

"If you take the quality of the sites, the quality of the sports, you couldn't do really any better than that," said Killy, a former French skier.

But Killy said some events had low turn-up in the stands.

"For the atmosphere, there was magic here and there, but not everywhere."
