Fisherman catches wild Chinese sturgeon
Adjust font size:

A fisherman in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has caught a rare wild sturgeon, which is suspected to be the precious aclpenser sinensis grdy, or wild Chinese sturgeon.

The sturgeon is 35 centimetres long and weighs only 200 grams. It is dark and yellow in colour with light yellow fins and a 5 centimetre long trunk.

The sturgeon was sent to the Chongqing Wildlife Aquatic Animal Centre on November 20 where it will undergo expert checks and analysis.

If it is identified as a real wild Chinese sturgeon, it will be as important a discovery as finding an endangered wild South China Tiger.
