An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter's scale struck East Nusa Tenggara province in the eastern part of Indonesia on Friday morning, with no report of damage or casualty, meteorology agency said in Jakarta.
The quake hit at 03:25 Jakarta time (2025 GMT Thursday) with epicenter at 71 km northeast of Ruteng in the province and at 103 km under sea bed, an official of the agency Ali Imron told Xinhua.
Indonesia with over 230 million population sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire" where two continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic movement.
