A celebration of fish stories
Adjust font size:

The Seventh International Aquarium Congress brought a wide range of experience in environmental protection to Shanghai when its 700 delegates began their deliberations yesterday morning.

The congress, hosted by the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, drew aquarium owners, suppliers, environmental protection experts and scientists from 45 countries and regions. It was the first time the event, held every four years, took place on China's mainland.

About 170 management officials, including 70 from China's aquariums, will share their views.

"The congress will be a good opportunity for international cooperation between countries and regions such as in exchanging animals," said Wu Xueguang, chairman of the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium.

Scientists will present their research findings over the next five days on the breeding of marine creatures, animal protection and water quality control.
