Snow ravages mountains around Guangdong

Days of heavy snow and rain have resulted in power and water failures in the Yuebei mountainous areas of south China's Guangdong Province. More than 400,000 people in 26 townships including Yunyan, Meihua, Daqiao and Hongyun have been affected. Traffic has been held up, crops frozen and trees broken down. Local governments are assembling manpower and material resources to conduct rescue activities in the disaster-stricken areas.
