Floods in China have killed 337 people and left 213 missing so far this year, with further flooding possible, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters (SFCDRH) said Wednesday.

Heavy rain has triggered landslides, which have toppled 150,000 houses, and affected 4 million hectares of farmland and 47.7 million people, according to the SFCDRH at a press conference.

The number of the affected population is 40 percent less than the annual average since 2000.

The majority of Chinese regions have entered the flood season, and the chance of large-scale flooding happening along the Yangtze River and the Yellow River is highly possible, the SFCDRH said.

It urged local authorities to enhance monitoring to prevent secondary disasters and timely relocate residents from risky regions.
